Joy Spence Appleton Rum Tour Experience
Formerly known as the Appleton Estate Rum Tour, renamed the Joy Spence Appleton Rum Tour Experience (JS-AERE) after its master blender. The tour was officially re-open on Thursday January 18, 2018 after a multi-million dollar remodeling and renovation was completed in partnership with the Gruppo Campari Group.
Located on Jamaica’s South coast Nassau Valley in Siloah, St. Elizabeth known for its breathtaking waterfalls, rivers, beaches and mineral baths; charming hotels, guest houses and delightful eating spot.

The renovation was facilitated by famed local architect Clifton Yap. The restoration includes the renovation of the current property and adjoining landscape. The addition of modern rooms to facilitate the tasting of rum for each guest.
Joy Spence Appleton Rum Tour Experience Facilities include a 3,000-square-foot theatre showing a newly-produced custom film for the estate tour, a new observation tower giving guests an overview of the sugar cane fields and a spacious retail store offering customised bottle engraving.
Among the many attractions on offer, visitors can taste an array of different rums and even have a go at cane-juicing and sugar boiling. There’s also a chance to sample fresh sugar cane juice and visit the barrel house where the rum is aged. With their fully modern tasting room the experience can only get better.
The Joy Spence Appleton Estate Rum Experience will take you on an historical path through 265 years of rum production and rum distillery in Jamaica; one where you will “feel and taste the essence of Appleton whilst learning about the complexity and sophistication of the rum”.
Joy Spence Appleton Rum Tour also includes an expansive retail store and a world class restaurant and lounge offering Appleton-infused Jamaican cuisine. Chef Gariel Ferguson who is known for his impeccable attention to details and superb creations, has brought his culinary skills to the new attraction.
Joy Spence Appleton Rum Tour restaurant boasts an authentic Jamaican jerk pit as its centerpiece, additional there is a remarkable state-of-the-art bar, featuring both classic and modern rum cocktails.

Appleton Estate 50 Year Old is comprised of rums that have been aged for a minimum of 50 years and it is considered a truly rare masterpiece. Created to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of Jamaica’s Independence, each rum was set down to age, to honour this important occasion. It is the world’s oldest barrel-aged rum and only 800 bottles of this rum have been created.
